Gerry
as Clyde Gabriel in The Witches of Eastwick
Gerry's roles with local companies are too numerous to catalogue here. They include such standards as Billy Bigelow (Carousel) and Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus) with Fortwilliam, and Curly (Oklahoma!), the Red Shadow (Desert Song), and Emile (South Pacific).
Gerry has demonstrated his versatility by also playing lead roles in Gilbert and Sullivan: Marco (The Gondoliers) and Strephon (Iolanthe). He won Best Actor and Best Male Voice at the 1996 Northern Ireland Festival of Light Opera.
Gerry took a break from the musical scene in 1999, but returned in 2003 to play Mr. Bumble in Oliver! for Banbridge Musical Society.
He joined New Lyric Operatic Company in 2003 to play Doolittle in My Fair Lady, a role for which he received a nomination for Best Comedian in the AIMS awards. The following year, he played Nicely-Nicely in Guys and Dolls, and in 2005 he played Sam Silver in New Lyric's Northern Ireland premiere of Copacabana.
Gerry returns to Fortwilliam to play Tevye in our 2009 production of Fiddler on the Roof.
